Yes museum-like.

AhEM! Well, as soon as it happened i had a vision of a BRAND NEW THING. Actually, an elaborate project, taking years to complete and creating a lot of jobs for the crippled, great city. i am not the biochemicalist, scientist, artist, professional for the job, but i think we should create a bioligical experiment for the new milennium INVOLVING: a spiralling tree jungle/articificial, pollution absorbant brand new way of cleaning the environment with thousands of architectual planning by ONLY THE BEST and ELITE picture a giant tree in New York, with a building inside--all artificially/biologically created it could absorb pollution and create oxygen and create hundreds of jobs... seriously this is the worst attack in america history i think it is only inevitable to respond by building the NEXT MODERN WORLD WONDER that is an absolutely serious and possible notion. AS AN AMERICAN, I WOULD BE INSULTED BY A PITHY LITTLE MONUMENT!

Our ancestors need to be remembered and our posterity needs a record of the past to build a better present

This is a sculpture that will go at the site of the Memorial Park. The sculpture will take a couple of years to build. It is the size of an atrium, 15X15 sqft. 11ft. high. It will rest on a marble "white" spherical platform four feet from the ground. The sculpture is of stainless steel for the skeleton and stained glass windows to fill in the skeleton. The shape of the sculpture is that of a blooming bud. One of the stained glass will be in the shape of a heart. This sculpture will be surrounded by a square of green and well pruned bushes. The sculpture will represent FAMILY AND LOVE. Many family members passed away and their love is still alive in their living family members helping and loving those around them. This concept is universal! This concept deals with our basic need and reason for living and dying. Finally, the Sun and its' location will complete the sculpture by creating a shadow on the floor of a flower, similar to the Magnolia. The colors of the stained glass will consist of blue, green, red, and orange. The sculpture is named "FAMILY"

A memorial should be built on the site of WTC and it's central feature should be the rebuilt Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Nickolas which stood on the destroyed site, so that people could have a place to go and light a candle for the lives lost in the worst terror attack in the U.S.A.

A memorial park should be built with it's main feature a rebuilt Saint Nickolas church so that people can light a candle for the souls of their relatives, and a place to grieve and to never forget this tragedy.

The victims deserve to be remembered - with so many people being unrecovered - having a tangible item.monument/whatever it turnes out to be in which their spirit may remain will help me to say goodbye.

I would love to see that area become a park where LIFE may thrive. Trees, grass, gardens, plants, & ponds for fish & ducks. Perhaps some items could be made into small statues/memorials throughout the park or housed in a small museum. I should hope that NYC could give up this prime real estate for the memory of one of our nation's most horrific losses.

In reverence to those that have died. The shell of the support structure is a must. personal artifacts should be displayed in a museum so we do not forget.

circular Wall of Names surounding the superstructure of steel that supported the WTC, grouped by employer or work group, flight crews and passengers grouped together, firemen together, etc. Museum 1/2 above ground 1/2 below. in the museum a place for prayer, artifacts display, tell the whole story, NYC response, Pentagon flight, PA flight.

I think it would be a nice gesture to build a memorial to remember all the people that lost there live's on that tragic day

my idea for a memorial would be a statue of a firefighter holding his cap under his arm and a plaque with all the firefighter's names who lost there live's.

This is now Sacred ground, as a cemetary would be, and should be treated as such. There are many ashes there from ones who were never found. I cannot imagine another tower there.

Something very tradtional, please, not comtemporary. Maybe pieces of the actual towers, that were found in the rubbish could be used. A large wall with all the names of the deceased as well as the missing is a must.

for respect of the beautiful people that lost thier lives , part of all of us was lost, we all love our freedom as americans, we share this world with all countries and, we have been hurt but our tears will show the way.

Through tears Iam reading this site, the ideas are all so wonderful, we will put all of our ideas into action. I agree with all the ideas I have been reading and am at a loss for words, I am so emotionally touched and I know one day I will visit the memorial and cry.

This was an epic event in our world history, an event we will not understand for centuries to come. To erase the remainders of this tragic event is to erase history.

Retain the remainder of the original WTC and retain a sense of the ruins--as many acres as possible. Build a low-lying circular shaped structure that could house a world memorial park.

I think these artifacts should be saved to remember those we lost as well as those who were rescued and those also who were the rescuers.

A remembrance wall with all the names of those who died on 9/11., Theremembrance wall could have a picture of the WTC building.I think this would include everyone but also there should be something for the families who didn't give up searching for their loved ones. Something like a sculpture of some kind. Maybe the sculpture could be a fire fighter holding Father Judge I believe that was his name,I'm not for sure.He represented the undying spirit of all those who didn't give up searching, hoping, and praying for the rescue of anybody they were able to find. I'm not a millionaire or anything like that.I am a housewife and mother. What happened on 9/11 affected the whole country. Our prayers went up for the families as well as those who were looking for those who were trapped and those who were no longer with us. I would name this sculpture 9/11. This name because 9/11 means emergency and help needed. Sincerely, karen_moellenberndt@hotmail.com

I saw the ceromonies at September 11 and I felt very sad remembering what happened to your country and the people. Seeing the people who go there at Ground Zero with all their emotions, donating flowers in the middle I thougth to myself a house of peace should be erected at that place. The people who lost their relatives, the people of New York, even the people who just care need a place to remember the lost humans, to light candles, to speak and listen to each other, to contemplate and to pray. A building similar to a cathedral in the middle of Ground Zero where the lost lives are held in the arms of God and all friends and relatives have a place to pray. It would be a building of circular shape representing the globe with seperate entries for each religion. As a sign of freedom and peace the house should be open 24 hours each day. Through all the different entries the visitors meet in the middle where a triangle represent Love - Peace - Respect to each human being. Such a place, where people feel a bit closer to the ones they miss, feel the spirit of God and get the spiritual support of other human beings. I believe there is no better place as Ground Zero to send a sign to the world that humans need to respect each other as it is a long tadition in the US and especially in New York City.

I am sure most people including all victoms would like to see a STANDING UP WTC MEMORIAL not a standing DUCK WTC. so it must show HUGE GLORY ever had.

How to built is actually a next more easy subject for ideal people, the most IMPORTANT point have to carry out immediately shall be:-(1)How to avoid next attack(just in case)???(2)How to allow those people trap on upper floor have a guarantee safe path to escape rather than to chose hopeless jump???(3)How to bring fire fighters up and down quick and safe when all standard elevator out of order??? FORTUNATELY I have all the answer and looking for ideal developer and officials to accept my patent idea.

this is a sacred place and we should build a lasting memorial. we have to remember this is a burial ground for a lot of people. This might be prime NY land but what about the people who died there.

I think that there should be another building built there but the whole ground floor should be dedicated to the victims of september11 and all the peoples names should be engraved on the walls and a statue should stand in the middle of the room. out side there sould be a large garden with a monument in the middle and lots of flowers around it and benches aswell so people can sit and think about the victims of september 11.

Why I endorse saving WTC artifacts and building a Memorial at Ground Zero

Foremost, I think the wishes of the survivors and the family and loved ones of those who died must be respected. My view is that we build the WTC bigger, better, stronger and more patriotic than ever. I prefer a design that is massive on the skyline, where people stop to look in awe. That would be a fitting project. Perhaps the new name could be Memorial WTC and that an ongoing percentage of business profits go to charitable works around the USA and poor places in the world. Business must have a charitable, compassionate component. Chris von Deutschburg chrisjohn316@iprimus.com.au A Memorial by an Australian http://home.iprimus.com.au/chrisjohn316/memorial/index .html

See my Ideas

Ground Zero Memorial To my friends Mayor Bloomberg, and Governor Pataki Three main issues to consider to build a Memorial at Ground Zero: 1- Ground Zero is a sacred cemetery, a holy ground for the 3,251 people who died there on September 11, 2001 2- It is also the ground of an American Icon: The World Trade Center, the center of world trade, of commerce, the dynamo powering America, the system of trade, of exchanging value for value, to mutual benefit, in freedom. 3- We should build a Memorial without any fear of being destroyed again... don't you ever be afraid of terrorists... my son Jerome died there, and I already forgave the terrorists... and I am not afraid of anyone of them. The Memorial: 1- The central masterpiece should be a sacred memorial for the 3,251 persons who died. 2- A central masterpiece should also be to proclaim he value of freedom to work and trade. 3- And, of course, to build it without any fear to terrorists. How to Build It: 1- The tallest and greatest building on earth, well designed and protected... 1550 feet?... 2- One main and independent entrance, like a great temple, as a Memorial-Sacred-Cemetery... a holy ground like the Pyramids of Egypt!... this space should occupy the main lower floors of the building... the first 15 floors?... and then something sacred on the top of the building. 3- Another great main and independent entrance to the commercial part of the building, on most of the upper floors... floors 15 to 130?... Something like this!... but with the great temple entrance on one side and the great commercial entrance on the other side. The top of it would be like the Eiffel Tower, ending with a cross or a star... There should be enough space for a sacred park at the Memorial entrance and enough space at the Commercial entrance... for this reason, two buildings will not make it. And, of course, there should be a lot of underground space for parking, both in the Memorial and in the Commercial sites... and both of them independent. http://www.biblia.com/911/memorial.htm

Not much emphasis has been placed on who should occupy rebuilt office space. I believe a memorial park and museum should be built along with new office space. This new office space should be occupied by the corporate offices of the FDNY, NYPD, and Port Authority. These organizations current headquarters can be utlized as prime realestate for new companies and their relocation to downtown Manhattan will help bring the economy in downtown back. Visitors to the site will be able to express their appreciation for these three organizations visually by just showing their presence.

To remind people of what happened there for decades to come

I would like to see a statue standing in a garden of rememberance. This figure would be a half size figure of the statue of liberty and built the same way but instead of standing with a liberty torch she would be made to resemble the Virgin Mary with her hands pressed together under her chin in a praying pose with her head bowed in reverence.I think this would be a very fitting symbol to everyone who has lost someone. This statue could be made out of the salvaged copper from the towers over a framework of steel also salvaged.

To the family's that lost their loved ones on 9-11, to the firemen, the air traffic control that help, to America.

My thoughts is that we should build two towers of marble in the footprints of the WTC. The two towers would not be as big as the real towers once were. Each and every victim of the attack, all the firemen that helped, and the air traffic control's names should be engraved in the marble on each merorial towers(like the wall at Washinton D.C. They should be sorted into sections like: The Faithfull people on Flight 93 (names), Firemen of FDNY(names) and so on. There sould be 4 ponds surounding the 2 towers with fountions in them, flowers, trees, benches, etc. People could come at free-will. I don't think there sould be a museum in the place of the world trade centers. If they should build a museum, build it away from the site. God Bless America

Just as we can never forget the holocaust, we can never forget the horror or tragedy that occurred on September 11, 2001. I am all for saving artifacts and creating a museum.

I believe we should make the footprints of the WTC into an arboretum. A tree should be planted in honor of each victim with a plaque bearing the name of each person in front of their tree. Landscaping and other plantings should complete a meandering design with niches for private benches for reflection. Also, family members of the victims should be given a cutting from their family member's tree to perpetuate it at their own home. I have spoken to many people about what should be done and although no one has come up with an idea, they all feel strongly that it should not be a cold, stone monument. Those people were not cold, stone structures and the tribute to their lives should be as alive and vibrant as they themselves once were. Of course this arboretum should be carefully tended and if a tree should die, it should be replaced immediately, preferably with a cutting of the original tree, life goes on, and so should the living tribute to their memories. A nominal admission fee should be charged to help maintain the site, but family members of the victims should be given a special lifetime pass allowing them permanent free admission.

It will be the site that future generations of humans...not just Americans will want to visit.

WTC Memorial Idea; I don't know if anyone is taking ideas. Two reflecting pools of black granite (symbolizing WTC) with the names of victims engraved in bottom of each pool. A mechanism that will drop a single drop of water into each pool at the minute after the hour that each building fell. This symbolizes the ripples that were felt across the world. My idea is simple but I had to share it.

We need to make a memorial for the ones who lost their loved ones. They need a place to go, they can't go to a cemetery because the victims are not there. Only at the WTC is where they are.

While I can understand the sacredness of those grounds and the need for a memorial by the individuals who lost loved ones and the nation as the whole, I also feel that the City of New York will need to regain the millions and millions of sq footage of office space lost in the catastrophe. I feel that both these needs can be met in a sensitive and responsible manner.

I really like the idea of the sky line being returned to its original pre 9/11 shape. I think it would really say a lot about our nation's manifest right and destiny to exist and be a deliberate rasberry to those who would challenge that. I like the idea of a large helical museum, much like the corners of a parking garage or stadium, 5 or 6 stories high joining the towers together. On the outside wall of the walk I can imagine artifacts, portraits, and written narratives telling the story of that day as you walk up. The inside wall could be pexiglass overlooking the center atrium which would house a scaled hologram of the towers as they stood prior to 9/11. The names of the ones we lost would be engraved into this wall. This hologram would enact the events one time a year precisely when and as they happened. Upon reaching the roof, visitors would find themselves in a beautiful garden, the new twins towering above, a testament to our ability as a nation and a people to heal and rebuild. God Bless those who lost loved ones and God Bless America!

Honestly I hadn't given it alot of thought. I stayed up late last night, and watched a show regarding this subject on PBS. The utter disrespect that some of those people have shown for SACRED GROUND is sickening. Once again everything comes down to the almighty buck. This is an outrage. The WHOLE site should be a MEMORIAL. These people need a place to grieve. The spirits of the departed need time to move on after such a horrific death.

At some point if it is possible move the firehouse as one guy suggested on TV today. Hey, if we built those Towers we can move a building. Those guys deserve at least that for giving their lives for us. *Also a legal Holiday should be added. If not possible we could utilize another Holiday that we are forced to "celebrate".

Those lives that perished in the WTC should be memorialized and we as Americans need to let the terrorist know we are stronger and more UNITED.

Rebuild the WTC according to the original blueprints, with a few changes: 1. It's stronger, wider and can withstand the impact of the largest aircraft (government assist in mandating this size) 2. A museum that lists the names, company and floor location of the victims on the main floor along with a historical series of events and artifacts leading up to the newly rebuilt towers 3. A series of emergency fire exits for floors 20 and up, that would resemble a laundry shoot, near the center of the building, to aid in a faster escape route.

While I think that we need to try and rebuild some sort of structure (probably decades from now) to replace the towers themselves, I also think it is important that we take the metal from the landfill and make a fitting memorial. While I am relieved that my daughter was too young to understand what was going on that day, I think it is important for her to someday know everything about 9/11/01, and why that is such a special day, a day to take pride in being an American, and how something that happens hundreds of miles away can feel like it's the next town away. I want her to understand that there is a big world outside of Montreal, Missouri. I have never been to New York, and I'm saddened that I never saw it before 9/11/01. I would like to visit someday with my family, and learn as much as I can bout the World Trade Center, as it has always been a very important part of our American history and culture, even more after September 11, 2001.

I think a museum, that tells something about every person that lost their life there on that day is a great idea, built right in front of where the towers once stood. The friends and relatives of them can have a space on the inside walls of the memorial, to tell a little bit about the person that they cared so much for and lost on that day. The inside can be filled with artifacts, and alot of general information about the Twin towers, and the many businesses housed there.

In one tower "footprint" a statue of a man and in the other a statue of a woman. One holding a child in one arm and the other holding a flag upraised in one hand and the child holding onto the neck of the adult holding them. Because many of these individuals, who are someone's loved ones, were infinitely fused within the ashes, the fallen drywall, and melted plastic that are burned into the ground at the site.

I read that the people of New York do not want a "super block" anymore. I think a series of several "normal" block size buildings with a center "key
